The Islamic calendar uses the Hijri era that had been established a long way back in AD 622. It was devised when Muhammad with his followers went from Mecca to Medina (earlier referred to as Yathrib). After this the first Muslim community was formed and was commiserated as Hijra.

1439 Hijri Calendar: The current Hijri year is 1439 AH. The year 1439 AH runs from 21st September 2017 to 10th September 2018. AH means Al-Hajj.

It is well known that the ancient arabs used the same name of months as used by the Muslims. There are two types of months: one are the permitted months and others are the forbidden months. That is the resaon that the islamic calendar is considered unanimous. The forbidden months are the months in which fighting is not allowed and this is known as Rajab. The forbidden months are also given in the Procopious writings. In his writing he has described the demise of Lakhmid al-Mundhirn which had happened in 541 AD summer. These four months are not linked to any particular season by the Muslim Historians. These months are linked by Qurans with Nasi which means postponement.

Out of the twelve months, four months of the Hijri months are considered sacred: Rajab and the consecutive three months of Dhū al-Qa‘dah, Dhu al-Ḥijjah  and Muḥarram.

2018 Hindu calendar is a term that is collectively used for various lunisolar calendars and they are traditionally adopted in Hinduism. This is adopted so that one can know the concept of timekeeping, and when New Year starts, and to give emphasis to which cycle – moon cycle or the sun cycle. The most followed and studied calendar among the various Hindu calendars is the Vikrami Calendar. This calendar is found in the northern region, the western region and central region. The Tamil calendar and Tithi Calendar 2018 is found in the south region while the Bengali calendar is found in the east. The calendars used in these regions take emphasis of lunar cycle and their new year starts in spring. But In some states like Kerala, the solar cycle is emphasized and hence Hinduism called as the Malayalam calendar. A Hindu calendar 2018 with Tithi is also known as 2018 Panchang.

The Gregorian calendar is different from the Hindu calendar but is somewhat similar to the Jewish calendar in the conceptual design. The Gregorian calendar adds days to the lunar month so that it can adjust the mismatch between the twelve lunar cycles. But the hindu calendar maintains the lunar month’s integrity but still adds a whole extra month so that all the festivals can be accommodated and this process is quite complex.

The Hindu calendar is very widely used in India as well as Nepal in order to set the dates of various Indian festivals like Holi, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, Pongal etc. in India, the early Buddhist community used the ancient Indian Calendar, then went for the Vikrami Calendar, and finally the Buddhist Calendar. The Buddhist community festivals are celebrated as per the lunar system only. Various countries like Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand use the lunisolar calendar which is somewhat similar to the Buddhist calendar in the context that they are based on the ancient version of Hindu calendar. The same lunisolar system which is given in the ancient Hindu calendar 2018 is also followed by the Jainism tradition. The Buddha and the Mahavira lifetimes have been used as a reference point for the timekeeping systems of the Buddhist and the Jains.

The astrology and the zodiac system that have been mostly adopted from the Greece are important for the practice from the Hindu calendar. The “Saka Calendar” better known as the Indian national calendar was redesigned so that it can be based on the Hindu calendars and finally adopted on March 22, 1957.

Hindu Calendar 2018 with Tithi

Time was kept in ancient times by observing the movement of Sun, Moon and planets by the Hindu Scholars. The calculations about Sun are present in various Sanskrit astronomical texts that are written in Sanskrit. Some of them are 5th century article written by Aryabhatta, in 6th century it was given by Lataveda in Romaka, in 7th century it was given by Brahamgupta in Khandakhyadyaka, in 8th century it was given Lalla in Sisyadhivrddida. In these writings, the movements and positions of various planetary and sun or Surya is given and also estimate the characteristics of various planetary motions. There were other texts like Surya Siddhanta which are believed to have been completed between 5th and 10th century which have chapters that show various planets with their deity methodologies.

The manuscripts have been written in various languages which show the sun and planetary calculations and its motion relative to earth. Since there are different versions so it is considered that they have been opened and changed during their lifetime.

There are various Sanskrit texts that show us how many days were in a year. These are:-

  • Surya Siddhanta – 365 days , 6 hours , 12 minutes , 36.56 seconds .
  • Paulica Siddhanta – 365 days , 6 hours , 12 minutes , 36 seconds .
  • Paracara Siddhanta – 365 days , 6 hours , 12 minutes , 31.50 seconds .
  • Arya Siddhanta – 365 days , 6 hours , 12 minutes , 30.84 seconds .
  • Laghu Arya Siddhanta – 365 days , 6 hours , 12 minutes , 30 seconds .
  • Siddhanta Shiromani – 365 days , 6 hours , 12 minutes , 9 seconds .

For setting the months and days the Hindu texts used the lunar cycle but to complete the year they required solar cycle. The system used here is similar to the one that is used in Jewish and Babylonian calendar. In this system there is still the challenge of mismatch between the correctness of 354 lunar days in twelve months or 365 days.

The solar year was observed by tracking the position of the sun when it comes up that is sunrise till when it goes down that is sunset. These formed constellations in the sky which were divided at 30 degree angles into twelve different parts.

The siddhanta tradition predated the Christian tradition as explained or observed by Scott Montgomery. The siddhanta tradition at one time had 18 texts out of which only 5 have survived till the modern age. These texts had information regarding the sun, moon and planetary motions and their formulas. They also predicted their future motions and positions as well as their equinoxes and parallax. A word called truti was used by the scholars who were trying to find the accuracy of time which came out around 29.36 micro seconds. During the time of their chance to fins the accuracy of time, they computed the diameter of the earth which is actually 7918 miles and their result also came very close to it. These calendars were again written by Aryabhatta and Varahamihira during the 5th and 6th century.

After some time a new word came into existence in the Hindu astrology known as Jyotisha. After a lot of centuries the astrological application came into existence because it was almost identical with the Greek astrology as they were somewhat similar.

The ancient texts on Jyotisha never mentioned so much of astrology or prophecy but discussed only on time keeping. According to Nicolas Campion, the idea of horoscopes and astrology came to India from Greece.

Full Moon Calendar 2018 | New Moon Calendar 2018 (Lunar Calendar 2018)

The lunar calendar is a calendar that is based on the Moon’s cycle or phases. This is in contrast to the solar calendar which is based only on the solar year. The Gregorian calendar as we all know is the most common calendar is based on the solar calendar but was invented originally based on lunar calendar. There is a process called intercalation which states that a purely lunar calendar can be differentiated from lunisolar calendars in such a way that the lunar months need to be aligned like that in solar calendar 2018. When the months begin depends on the various forms of the moon like the full moon, crescent moon, half moon, and some of them are based on calculations. All phases of the moon have been given on it.

Lunar Calendar 2018

Full moon Schedule calendar 2018, New moon calendar 2018

The length of each lunation is approximately 29.5 days that is 29 days , 12 hours , 44 minutes , and 3 seconds. The months in the lunar calendar varies between 29 and 30 days and is a common phenomenon. During a lunar year there are twelve lunation’s and hence the year is approximately 354 days or 354 days , 8 hours , 48 minutes , and 34 seconds. It is a common phenomenon to loose eleven days a year in comparison to Gregorian calendar. There are some pure lunar calendars like the Islamic calendar which has to repeat the cycle of Gregorian calendar after a gap of every 33 years.
The Gregorian calendar is the most common calendar that is used in almost every countries hut in order to find the national holidays and regional holidays , the lunar and lunisolar calendars are used in the old world till now. Some of the holidays are : –
1. Diwali
2. Holi
3. New year
4. Ramadan
5. Chinese new year
6. Nepali new year
7. Chuseok
The warren field in Scotland is the first place where the lunar calendar was found and this dates back to 8000 BC. This was during the Mesolithic period. There are some scholars who argued that the moon calendar 2018 existed even before this time.

Moon Phase Calendar 2018

Moon Phase Calendar 2018, Full moon chart 2018

One important thing to note is that the calendars referred to as lunar calendars are basically the lunisolar calendars only. The process of intercalation is used to match the months according to the solar calendar. In ancient Egypt there were traces of solar civic calendar were found that were in accordance with the lunar calendar. The Chinese, Hindu, and the Thai calendars are present day lunisolar calendar and they often search what is a new moon and is the moon phase today?

New Moon Calendar 2018

New Moon Calendar 2018, Moon schedule calendar 2018

Since the months are 29 or 30 days in length hence they are called synodic months and hence it leads to the lunar year being 11 days short of solar year. There are some lunar calendars that don’t use the intercalation like the Islamic calendar. But there are some that do calculations and add an extra month after every two to three years so that they are at match. The example of these calendars is Hebrew Calendar. In some lunisolar calendars some natural events occurring take a part to make some changes that are at par with the lunar cycle as well as solar cycle. An example of this kind of calendars is Banks Islands which always uses the mass of palolo worm to include three months additional in the calendar.
At what time the day will start differs in both the lunar calendar as well as the lunisolar calendar. Also there is a difference that on which day a month will start. For example :- in the Chinese calendar a new day of the month is started when there is a new moon at some particular time zone. There are calendars in which the new day of every month begins after full moon or new moon. The example of this type of calendar is Hindu calendar. Some calendar find the day of month by seeing the first sighting of the lunar crescent and the calendar using this concept is Hebrew calendar.

Moon Phase Calendar 2018

Moon Phase Calendar 2018, New moon calendar 2018

There is an average value for the length of every lunar cycle which varies accordingly. These depend on the observations on the weather conditions and subject of uncertainty. In order to fix the above uncertainties there have been several arithmetic rules that have been discovered and made to overcome it and approximately give the date of the new month and the particular day.
The value of 29.530589 days or 29 days , 12 hours , 44 minutes , and 3 seconds , is the average value of the synodic month. It is in consideration with the fact that the days of the months are either twenty nine days or thirty days. These days are called as hollow or full. There is a term in mathematics called as the continuous fraction which helps in determining the distribution of hollow and full months. These functions are also used in examining approximation of successive lengths of months as a fraction of a day. There is a list below showing the number of days in the numerator and the months after that in the denominator : –
1. 29 / 1 ( After 2 months add 1 day )
2. 30 / 1 ( After 2 months add 1 day )
3. 59 / 2 ( After 2.6 years add 1 day )
4. 443 / 15 ( After 30 years add 1 day )
5. 502 / 17 (After 70 years add 1 day )
6. 945 / 32 (After 222 years add 1 day , can be expressed in binary exactly : 11101.10001₂ )
7. 1447 / 49 (After 3 millennia add 1 day )
8. 25101 / 850 ( if there is change in synodic month value)

2018 Lunar Calendar

2018 Lunar Calendar, MOON CALENDAR 2018

The fractions shown above are used to make a lunar calendar and also can be used to make a lunisolar calendar by doing a combination with a solar calendar to make it. In the above list, in the 7th point we can see that there is a 49 month calendar which was proposed as an alternative by Issac Newton for the Easter Computation in the year 1700 around.
